Holiday Inn Express Saint Simons Island

We stayed here for a weekend getaway. The only good thing about this hotel was the front desk staff and location. The front desk staff was nice. This hotel is only two floors and the elevator is so slow. You would think it has 10 floors. The rooms need to be updated. I didn't want to walk on the floor without shoes. The carpet needs to be replaced. There was no microwave in the room. The bathroom had rust and mildew in the shower like housekeeping just does the bare minimum. There was someone's hair in our shower drain. The sprinkler in the ceiling was about to fall out. We had a baby lizard in the corner of the bathroom. My husband disposed of it. During breakfast they ran out of apple and cranberry juice and did not get anymore the entire weekend was there. They ran out of regular creamers for the coffee and didn't get anymore. The famous cinnamon rolls on the first day were hard as a brick, couldn't eat them. The next day they put out apple danishes instead. We enjoyed the location because it was close to a lot of activities. I would not stay here again.

We stay in a lot of Holiday Inn Express hotels and this one has a few issues that management needs to address. When we arrived on a Sunday afternoon, four staff were playing cards in the dining area. We could not check in early because our room was not ready. When we returned an hour later, the card game ended but our upstairs room still wasn’t ready so we accepted a first floor room. The room was clean and comfortable but had no microwave and needed minor repairs. Breakfast on Monday was a bit disorganized when the kitchen staff called out. The supervisor tried really hard to cover for her employee and was very sweet. The dining room was not very clean and they had their B rating from the Health Department posted. The location is great and the area is quiet for a restful sleep. A mixed bag!
